aethAERIALarts, Spinning Jenny and the Auchencairn community of Dumfries and Galloway, Scotland have been awarded £2500 to support the development of a community circus accessible to all.
The Auchencairn Community Council in partnership with Cate and Jenny won the award from DG Unlimited as part of their Regional Arts Fund 2016/17, this is a small fixed term commission supported by Dumfries and Galloway Council’s Strategic Arts budget to encourage grassroots creativity, professional arts development and to increase the volume and impact of high quality arts projects for the public and economic benefit of Dumfries and Galloway.

Vision Mechanics (Edinburgh) collaborated with aethAERIALarts in partnership with the Dumfries and Galloway Arts Festival's new youth arts programme 'Fringe4'. aethAERIALarts produced and created the Dark Wood promenade performance using physical theatre and circus arts to tell tall tales about The Giants in the Forest. Other partners included The Year of Natural Scotland fund, The National Trust for Scotland and Scottish National Heritage. Collaboration also included much valued close to home involvement from the performance artists David Giblin, Tony Bonning, Graham Moffat, Jenny Stephenson and Jo Jackson-Bonning alongside the Kirkcudbright Academy drama department. Oceanallover and Mark Zygadlo have created The Tide Machine in collaboration with many artists, performers and makers. It is an amazing floating stage and platform for performances with hydro powered sound and 12v lighting built in to the structure.

tePOOKa arts education charity created 'Secrets of the Forest' which was a physical theatre performance in woodlands across Scotland funded by the Forestry Commission. It was designed to encourage people into their local landscape and to learn about ecology through the arts.

Collective Nonsense are an autonomous collective of artists who regularly design and host events that operate on a renewable energy basis, they specialise in 12v powered parties and happy activism! Their aim is to help bring communities together through sustainable fun, celebration and a dirty low down lack of shame.

Roofless was created by UZ Arts with support from Creative Scotland, LEADER and many other partners. aethAERIALarts worked on the project in Ecclefechan.
